Welcome to the Resonant Healing community!

This email gets you started with a free chapter from my book, but most of the emails in this series are resonant meditations that can create profound change in our neural pathways.

Resonance is a practical trauma-healing modality that combines somatic awareness, healing and restorative language, relational practice, and relational neuroscience.

Here, we learn how to unravel the mysteries of our nervous systems and to re-pattern our brain (not just the brain in your skull, but your entire body-brain) for self-warmth, compassion and human connection.

As we each begin to have a deeper sense of the possibility of loving ourselves and speaking to ourselves with warmth and understanding, our relationship to our own mind changes and we can start to live more harmoniously with ourselves and others.

What I love about this practice is that it offers real-life tools for how to shift your internal dialogue and make your brain a more compassionate place to live.

Over the next few weeks, I’ll be sending you a series of emails that explore this work in great detail. The resonant meditations can create profound change in our neural pathways.

I’ll talk to you about the neuroscience of self-compassion, the relationship between language and the nervous system, how early childhood experiences of being seen and heard impact our relationships with ourselves and of the people who are caring for us, and the freedom that’s possible when we are able to turn towards ourselves with warmth and curiosity.

To get started, I invite you to spend some time with this offering: Staying in Emotional Balance: Healthy Self-Regulation, which is the second chapter of my book, Your Resonant Self.

In this chapter, I talk about the benefits of warm accompaniment and how being warm and understanding with ourselves supports us staying in balance and becoming resilient. I also talk about how our emotions are regulated in our bodies: we meet the amygdala and the prefrontal cortex (PFC), and learn about the importance of fostering a healthy relationship between the two.
